When You Love Something, You Protect It
I watched one of my favorite Marvel movies “Eternals” for the billionth time the other day and a quote from Gilgamesh triggered something in me this particular time:
“When you love something, you protect it”
The first thing I thought of was, of course, my fur baby, Daisie. I love her and would do anything to protect her. But then I went a little deeper. If I truly love myself, why don’t I protect myself from harmful things and situations? Things like drinking alcohol, when I know how damaging it is for my mental health and body. Things like staying in contact with toxic people even though I know they aren’t serving my well-being and overall happiness.
Do you love yourself? If so, do you protect yourself from things and people that aren’t serve you?
It’s something to think about for sure!
When thinking if it this way, it’s hard to admit that I don’t love myself as much as I thought I did. Yes, I’m human and make mistakes, but I can certainly grow and try to be better.
If I love myself, it is my duty to protect myself and same goes for you. I’m writing this as a reminder that you are worthy of love and protection, so it’s time you start treating yourself like the amazing human being you are.
Here’s a question you can ask yourself in anything you do.
“Does this serve me? Does this nourish my body, mind or soul?”
If it does, then power to you! Keep doing what you’re doing.
I don’t have more to say, but hope this short blog post serves as a reminder to love yourself and protect yourself from anything that doesn’t serve you.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.
Love you all and take care.
